I am a writer, learning designer, and consultant who believes that every question is worth exploring, and every question is worth answering—well. My work is guided by a few simple principles:
- The process of learning should be exciting, engaging, and even… fun.
- Project parameters are challenges to be met with flexible creativity.
- There is no such thing as ‘dumbing down.’ Rather, there are ways to simplify, provide multiple points of entry, and address every learning style and ability so that all learners are engaged.
Some of my favorite and most exciting educational projects include:
- Creating curricula and supporting materials for the National Science Foundation’s National Science and Technology Week for several years running;
- Developing interactive, self-paced online classes in non-profit management for Drexel University’s Godwin College of Professional Studies;
- Interviewing and working with surgeons and researchers at the Dana Farber Cancer Center to develop patient education materials;
- Developing interview-based scripts for educational videos for Harvard Business Review.
Now, with a Certificate in Instructional Technology from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Massachusetts, I am bringing both my experience and skills to a post-pandemic world of learning possibilities.
Outside of work, I am a juried, award-winning iPhone photographer on Cape Cod, I write and direct plays in local community theaters, and I enjoy choral and Renaissance-style singing. I’m married with two adult children (including an autistic son who plays both clarinet and organ), and am the proud owner of no fewer than three cats!
