My experience in K-12 education is both broad and deep. I’ve worked with major educational publishers to create new print and digital curricula, develop interactive high stakes assessments, invent hands-on learning experiences, and explore innovative options for ESS and learning disabled students. I’ve developed materials for students from kindergarten through high school in STEM, ELA, Social Studies, personal finance, and career exploration–and taken on almost every type of educational product imaginable:
- Digital modules and courses
- Leveled readers and trade books
- Hands-on explorations and learning experiences
- Print curricula
- High stakes assessments
Make CSS Fun
How can you make coding fun for eighth graders? The answer is to turn the process of CSS coding into an interactive experience featuring characters, real-world problems, and CSS-based outcomes. In this product for Toolwire, I developed PowerPoint-based characters, endowed them with personalities, and empowered students to solve character problems with CSS Solutions.
Encourage Reluctant Readers
When a high school student is struggling with the written word it can be hard to get them back on track. Enter high/low books: trade publications that are high interest–but written at a lower reading level. I worked with Scholastic Publishing to develop, research, and write a set of four such high/low trade books on exciting topics including Biowarfare, Spy Planes, and MicroSpies. These, along with many of my other K-12 trade books written for major publishers are now available on Amazon and other sites and are used to encourage students to explore the world through the written word.
